Steamboat Ski Area is a world-class resort offering 142 trails, 20 lifts and nearly 3,000 acres of terrain. Steamboat is a complete mountain range: Mt. Werner, Sunshine Peak, Storm Peak, Thunderhead Peak, Christie Peak and Pioneer Ridge. The terrain offers a diversity of trails for all ability levels. Gladed areas of Pioneer Ridge, Sunshine and Storm Peak are Steamboat’s particular claim to fame, with Champagne Powder® in the trees for the most avid powder hounds. Howelsen Hill boasts a remarkable heritage. It is the oldest ski area in continuous use in Colorado, and has the largest and most complete natural ski jumping complex in North America. Located in Downtown Steamboat Springs. Howelsen Hill has three lifts, and varied terrain. Open to the public daily throughout the winter season. Click on the link below for more information.

Cross Country Skiing

There are many kilometers of marked trails to choose from on Rabbit Ears Pass, accommodating all skill levels. The Ski Touring Center (970-879-8180) offers 30K of groomed trails for classic and skate skiing and 8K of snowshoe trails. There are many places to take a snowshoe tour in our area. Try the top of the gondola for guided tours, or cruise around at Howelson Hill. Check with some of the local outdoor shops for other ideas of places to go and don't forget the sunscreen!

Howelsen Ice Arena, located next to Howelsen Hill, is northwest Colorado’s premier indoor ice facility. It features an indoor, Olympic-size ice rink for hockey, figure skating and broomball. Lessons are also available. Call 970-879-0341 for more

Hot Air Balloon Rides

For a leisurely ride above the Yampa Valley, hot-air balloons take off near the base of the resort daily and provide a bird's-eye view of Steamboat. Enjoy spectacular scenery while floating quietly aloft in these beautiful aircraft.

Hot Springs

At the end of the day, a soak in one of the local natural hot springs is always in order. The Old Town Hot Springs (970-879-1828) offers hot springs swimming pools, a full-service fitness center, and a water slide for the kids. Or, take a trip with Sweet Pea Tours (970-879-5820) or Windwalker Tours (970-879-8065) up to the Strawberry Park Hot Springs, (970-879-0342), six miles above town for a unique experience in a beautiful setting. Tubing

Tubing is offered by the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corportion at the base of the Ski Area. You must be 36" for safety reasons to go on the tubes. Tickets can be purchased at the base of the Mountain.

Sleigh Rides

Horse-drawn and snowcat-drawn sleighs will whisk you away over snowy meadows and through forest. You can even choose an evening dinner sleigh ride, the perfect finale to your day. Click

Winter Driving School

The Bridgestone Winter Driving School offers a variety of Winter Driving instruction. Programs are available for all driving abilities, whether one is a timid novice or a seasoned professional. Experience driving on one of the world's finest ice tracks and develop skills to drive safely and confidently in dangerous winter conditions. Track open daily from December 14th through March 9th.
