There are two hot springs in the Steamboat area:
Steamboat Health & Recreation - Pool & Health Club. With something for everyone, the Steamboat Health and Recreation Center has three hot mineral pools, an olympic-sized lap pool, kid's pool, fitness center, tennis courts, and a 350 foot Waterslide. The Old Town Hot Springs for additional information call 970-879-1828.
Strawberry Park Hot Springs. A short drive into the mountains takes you Strawberry Park Hot Springs, with outdoor soaking pools in a rustic setting. For details call 970-879-0342.

Alpine Slide

"The Howler" aptly named for what you do when you whiz down Steamboat's Alpine Slide. First, enjoy a scenic ride up Howelsen Hill on a chairlift, and then choose from two tracks for your 2,400-foot descent down the steep face of the ski area.
The Howler is located on Howelsen Hill in historic downtown Steamboat Springs, at 5th Street and Howelsen Parkway. It is open daily June through August, and some weekends in May and September. For more information call 871-1104.

Routt National Forest, Steamboat Lake, Pearl Lake, and Stagecoach State Parks, Mount Zirkel and Flat tops Wilderness Areas, as well as the Steamboat Ski Resort and The City of Steamboat Springs offer miles of hiking trails. For the easiest trails the City of Steamboat Springs offers the Yampa River Core Trail, which is a four mile of path that runs along the Yampa River for more difficult trails head out of town. Steamboat Springs Rodeo Series

Every Friday and Saturday evening throughout the summer Professional rodeo cowboys and cowgirls compete in bareback, saddle bronc riding, roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and bull riding.
The Rodeo Grounds are at the base of Howelsen Hill in Downtown Steamboat Springs. (5th Street and Howelsen Parkway). All rodeos begin at 7:30 gates open at 5:30pm.

Gondola Rides

Ride the 8-passenger gondola at the Steamboat Ski Area. Climb to 9,000 feet for spectacular views of the Yampa Valley. From there, hike, bike, have a picnic, or enjoy Sunday Brunch at Hazies. The gondola is open daily mid-June through Labor Day, then weekends through September. For more information call 970-879-6111.

With two major river systems, the Yampa and the Elk and countless lakes in Routt County, fishing is a favorite past time of locals, as well as visitors. Equipment rentals, guide services or fishing information are available at several outfitters in Steamboat, or the Chamber Resort or the Routt National Forest office could help with directions and maps. Eight campgrounds are located in Routt National Forest (Dry Lake, Dumont Lake, Hahns Peak Lake, Hinman, Meadows, Seedhouse, Summit Lake, Walton Creek) three are in State Parks (Steamboat Lake, Pearl Lake and Stagecoach Reservoir) and a commercial operator is located on the West side of Steamboat Springs. State Park campsites can be reserved ahead of time.

There are three public locations to play tennis.
The Tennis Center at Steamboat Springs offers four indoor courts and six outdoor clay courts. There is a fee and reservations are recommened. Located at 2500 Pine Grove Road, Steamboat Springs. Call (970) 879-8400 to reserve your court.
Old Town Hot Springshas three outdoor courts. Located at the corner of 3rd and Lincoln (Hwy 40). There is a charge to play on these courts call 970-879-1828 for reservations.
Steamboat Parks & Recreation has two outdoor courts free to the public. Located on Howelsen Parkway near the Rodeo Grounds.

Botanical Gardens

The Botanic Park is a great place to take a break, and admission to the park is FREE to the public! Benches, walkways and a grassy knoll are available for picnicking, bird watching or just relaxing. The gardens attract a wide variety of native birds and butterflies. The park is closed during the winter months. For more information and directions to the Park click on the link below.

Yampatika is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing an understanding of the natural and cultural resources of NW Colorado and a sense of place through education, communication, participation and example.
Created in 1992, Yampatika represents a collaboration of organizations supporting the use, preservation, and conservation of the natural and cultural resources of NW Colorado.
Yampatika provides environmental education and interpretive programs for everyone - visitors, local residents and seniors.

Historic Walking Tour
This historic tour leads you throughout present day Steamboat Springs, where some of the first buildings in the valley still stand. This informative walking tour starts at the Tread of Pioneers Museum. Click on the link below for a map
Mineral Springs Tour
Another interesting tour is a visit to the seven mineral springs located on the West end of Steamboat. The Native American Indians believed the springs were sacred places where the Great Spirit lived deep below the earth’s surface, and they visit after battles to rejuvenate their strength. Tread of Pioneers Museum

The Tread of Pioneers Museum is devoted to collecting, preserving and exhibiting objects and documents that are a part of this area's history. Viewing subjects of note are the ski history exhibit, Western life collection turn of the century life style displays, and Native American treasures. Special museum features are a local history research library, a gift store and an historic photo collection. Located at the Corner of 8th and Oak in downtown Steamboat Springs.
Hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with additional hours based on demand. Call the museum at 970-879-2214 for futher information

Lyons Drug & Johnny B Good’s both offer the old-fashioned ice cream experience of the Soda Fountain, popular in the 1950s. Step back in time and experience ice cream the way it is supposed to be enjoyed. Lyons Drug is located at 840 Lincoln Avenue, and Johnny B Good’s is located at 738 Lincoln Ave. in downtown Steamboat Springs.

A great place for a hike or a picnic and close to downtown Steamboat Springs.
Take a right on 3rd and Lincoln Ave in downtown Steamboat, immediately take the next right on Fish Creek Falls Road. Follow this road until it ends at the parking area for the Falls.
