Click here to view full size picture The Routt County Council on Aging, Inc. is a non-profit organization funded by grants from Routt County United Way, the Older Americans Act and the Human Resources Coalition.

Routt County Council on Aging serves Hayden, South Routt (Oak Creek, Phippsburg, Yampa) and Steamboat Springs. Services include; congregate meals, Meals on Wheels, transportation, Information and referral, Ombudsman, Medicare Part D.

Congregate Meals

There are three Nutrition Centers in Routt County, each serving on a different schedule. Meal reservations for all sites preferred two days ahead of time. This allows the cooks to have adequate food prepared meals.

The recommended contribution for meals is $3.00 for persons 60 and older. Those under 60 must pay a fee of $6.00.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels provides hot, low-cost, nutritional meals to seniors, delivered to the home. The service is offered the same days as the Congregate meals in the respective areas. The recommended contribution for meals is $3.00 for persons 60 and older. Those under 60 must pay a fee of $6.00.

Meals on Wheels in always looking for volunteers to help with delivery. Call 879-0633 if you'd like a meal delivered or if you could volunteer.

Transportation

Top
Transportation is available at all three areas to and from the meal sites. Transportation can be provided for medical appointments and sometimes shopping especially in South Routt and Hayden. For transportation call Routt County Council on Aging at 879-0633. Click here to view full size picture

Information and Referals

The Routt County Council on Aging has information and can refer individuals on such things as low cost or free legal assistance, tax return assistance, medical assistance, housing assistance or any other need a senior citizen might have.

Ombudsman

Top
What is an OMBUDSMAN?
A person who is concerned with protecting the civil and human rights of elderly persons in long-term care facilities, such as a nursing home or an assisted living facility.

A problem-solver and a mediator.

A resource.

An objective investigator of complaints.


What can the Ombudsman do for you?
Provide a place where a resident of a long-term care facility or their family can discuss a problem and receive assistance.

Help long-term care residents obtain the appropriate legal, social, recreational, physical and emotional services necessary for quality-of-life with dignity.

Assist long-term care staff to meet the needs and concerns of those who use their facilities.

Educate the community about the long-term care system.

Identify gaps in services provided, report findings and help achieve equitable solutions.

Advocate for needed improvements in legislation and policies affecting long-term care.

Foot Care Clinic

Foot Care Clinic
Senior Foot Care Program

The foot care program includes whirlpool footbath, toenails trimmed and filed, foot massage and referral for those with ongoing needs. The clinic is held on the last Tuesday of each month at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. For an appointment, call RCCOA at 879-0633. The fee is $10.00. Medicare does not cover this service.
