The Doak Walker Care Center replaced the former Extended Care Center when it opened on the Yampa Valley Medical Center campus in November 2000. This 59-bed skilled nursing center provides care and rehabilitation for elderly and convalescing adults.
Residents enjoy cheerful sunrooms, landscaped courtyards, an exercise/therapy room, spacious dining rooms, cozy fireplace lounges, and quality care with compassion and dignity. The Doak Walker Care Center honors the memory of football legend Doak Walker, a longtime resident of Steamboat Springs
