The Hahns Peak Historical Society was Created in 1972. It is an all volunteer organization comprised of a Little Green Schoolhouse and Museum Building. Through the Dedication of Historic Societies Members to Preservation and Education the Little Green Schoolhouse has been designated as a Historic Site on the Federal, Colorado State, and Routt County Registers of Historic Places.


The Museum is Open During the Summer Season from 12-4pm.

Enrollment Form [Click here to view full size picture] The Little Green Schoolhouse in Hahns Peak is and was a great asset to the Hahns Peak Area. It served as a School and Community Meeting Place. The Schoolhouse has been restored and preserved to its original state, including the original schoolbooks.

Bear Cage Jail [Click here to view full size picture] The Bear Cage Jail was removed from the Original Courthouse in Hahns Peak and used as the Jail in Steamboat Springs, Colorado for many years. When the new jail was built in Steamboat Springs, Routt County graciously donated the Bear Cage Jail back to its home in Hahns Peak
