The Purpose:

The Colorado Mountain College Resource Web site will be a teaching and research tool for students and faculty college-wide in the discipline areas of the The Humanities. The Humanities discipline areas include the following currently offered at Colorado Mountain College:

Art, Architecture, Dance, Drama, History,Jurisprudence, Literature, Music, Mythology, Philosophy, Religion.

Educational Objectives:

• The primary objective is to provide Colorado Mountain College students and faculty a resource for materials, discussion and opportunity to connect disciplines in The Humanities courses.

• Instructors will collaborate on materials and topics and course activities in their Humanities courses, especially when similar topics are covered both on-line and in classroom instruction.
• Students will have a resource for research and more in-depth investigation of Humanities subjects.
• The opportunity for cross discipline instruction and dialogue will provide a unique learning experience for students and faculty.
• The Web site will provide a place for student portfolio work that can be used solely by the student or for instruction with permission by the student.
• Use of the Web site will benefit both instructors and students. Training would be provided after the Web site is developed so that faculty and students can contribute. The site will be “organic’ in that it will constantly be growing because of the interactive nature of the contributions from faculty and students.
• The use of The Humanities Web Site will strengthen student and faculty skills in Communications, Critical Thinking, Technological Development and Access, Learning, Reading, Research, Problem Solving, and Aesthetic Awareness.
• Student and faculty participation and contributions to the site will be the measure of success for the project.
